Board Members

The Micelle BioPharma board of directors is responsible for the direction, strategy, organization, and administration of the company.

Mr. DeLay has been a constant presence in the Nashville manufacturing, construction, real estate & finance sectors for over 30 years. Apart from being the Chairman and CEO of Sherman-Dixie products, a member of the Board of Directors of the American Concrete Pipe AssociationH, he was also a member of the Advisor Boards of several financial institutions. Mr. DeLay is currently on the Board of Trustees of the Middle Tennessee State University and Montgomery Bell Academy, a former Board Member at the University of the South and a member of the Board of Directors of the Middle Tennessee Boy Scouts Association of America.

Dr. Jacobson was the Chairman of MedCare Investment Funds and a founding partner of TriStar Technology Ventures. He is former Vice Chancellor for Health Affairs at Vanderbilt University and CEO of Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC). During Dr. Jacobson’s 11+ years of tenure, VUMC revenues grew from $750 million to $2.5 billion. During the course of his career, Dr. Jacobson has been a successful investor and entrepreneur, having founded or co-founded several companies. Dr. Jacobson served on the boards of 3 New York Stock Exchange companies; Merck, Kinetic Concepts, and Renal Care Group. Dr. Jacobson is also a past chair of the Nashville Health Care Council Board of Directors.

Van Hipp, Jr. is Chairman of American Defense International, Inc. (ADI), a Washington, DC based consulting firm specializing in government affairs, business development and public relations. From 1986 to 1989, Van Hipp served as the Chairman of the South Carolina Republican Party.  Hipp served as  Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army (Reserve Forces and Mobilization) and Principal Deputy General Counsel of the Navy. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the American Conservative Union and The National Capitol Board of The Salvation Army. He is also on the board of the Palmetto Promise Institute and is a member of the Committee on the Present Danger.

Rick Jacques has more than 25 years of leadership experience in the healthcare industry, and a proven ability to build and grow successful healthcare organizations. Rick founded and served as the President and Chief Executive Officer for Covenant Surgical Partners prior to joining MetaPhy Health. He served as Principal and President of Surgical Health Group and also served as Vice President of Business Development at AmSurg.

John P. Mayo, serves as Chief Executive Officer of Surface Sensing Technologies and Thermal Diagnostic Technologies, and is one of the inventors of its patented technologies in the field of rapid medical diagnostics utilizing nanotechnology.  Mr. Mayo is also the founder of Soundblast Technologies, which developed the directed-energy acoustic weapon system, Detonation Wave Array Projector (DWAP) under contract for the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Advanced Systems and Concepts. The DWAP weapon system was converted for use by the oil and gas industry for seismic exploration.  Mr. Mayo has served as Member of Board of Corporate Advisors at Cytta Corp. since October 2015, and as a consultant for IQBusiness, with its home offices in South Africa.

Jimmy Webb has served as President of Freeman Webb, Inc., a real estate brokerage, acquisition and management company, since he and his partner William H. (Bill) Freeman founded the company in 1979. He is a former board member of the Better Business Bureau of Nashville, the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce and has served on the Chamber’s Urban Planning/Land Use Committee, Buddies of Nashville, the March of Dimes, Nashville City Bank, Tennessee Vietnam Veterans Leadership Program, Tennessee State University Foundation, and the Junior Chamber of Commerce.
